To know
when to bluff There is
no correct time to bluff, you do it when the
time seems right when you think your
opponent will fold,
Against a small stack
When your opponent has a small stack he most
probably wont call unless he has hit big on
the flop, and even if he calls and wins you
wont lose to much, this is where practise
makes perfect and you will just know when
the time is right, don't bluff unless you
can afford to be called
If you raised pre
flop If you raise pre
flop it is always best to follow with a
continuation bet after the flop even if you
miss and have a trash hand. As most of the
time your opponent will not hit.
When in last position If
you are in last position, you have the
ability the make more successful bluffs than
anywhere else on the table. If you are last
to act, and your opponents have checked to
you, it is a sign of weakness. This is a
perfect opportunity to bet and win the pot.
When on a draw
If you do
not have a made hand, but are on a draw such
as a straight or a flush, you can launch
what is called a semi-bluff. You hope to
take the pot down right there, but if you do
get called you still have a chance to win
the hand if the next cards improve your
hand. But if you get re-raised be prepared
to let the hand go, unless you are receiving
correct pot odds to call.
Evaluation Don't forget
you don't have to bluff to win money in
poker especially if you are new to the game
because you will lose more than you win. It
is far more better to stick with strong card
list and only play when you have a strong
hand. As you learn the game you can expand
your game and introduce new tactics.
Bluffing properly is a skill that comes with
experience. When you bluff you can show
people afterwards that you were bluffing
this sets them thinking your a bluffer then
when you have the nuts they may mistake your
raise for a bluff and call. |
