    Origin Of Poker

Poker has to be most widely know card game on earth. The origin of poker isn't know the most common theory is that poker is a descendant of the Persian game called Nas. The first reference to the game poker goes way back to the 1830's in new Orleans the game spread like wild fire reaching Mississippi by the mid 1830's.

Skills Needed

Poker is a game of skill rather than game of chance and when played in Casinos is played against other players rather than played against the house. To become a good poker player a person needs to master a variety skills ranging from gauging the strength of your own hand and that of an opponents getting a pot to a good size to make a profit, knowing what cards to play, and as the great Kenny Rogers said "know when to hold em know when to fold em". everybody has emotions at the poker table and being able to read your opponents by seeing strength or weakness is a must to keeping the upper hand at poker. Remember in poker you don't have to have a great hand to win at poker you just have to have psychological skill to out-bluff  their opponent.

The Basics Of Poker

Poker is played with a standard 52 card pack, with a minimum of two players up to an infinite number with a table maximum of ten. The strength of cards go from highest to lowest with ace as high the hand ranks in  poker are as follows, a Royal Flush this is where you get ten jack queen king ace all the same suit. The odds of  getting this  is 1 in 649,740. And there are 4 ways to get it. Then it a Straight Flush this is 5 cards same suit in running order. the odds of getting this is 1 in 72,193.33. And there are 36 ways to get one. Then 4 of a kind any 4  of the same cards. odds of getting this are 1 in 4,165. And there are 624 ways to get this. Then a Full House which consists of 3 of one type of card and 2 of another. Odds of this hand are 1 in 694.16 and there are 3,744 ways to get it. Then a Flush. Odds of getting this  are  1 in 508.80. And there are 5,108 ways to get one. Then a Straight. Odds of this are 1 in 254.80. And there are 10,200 ways to get it. Then it's 3 of a Kind. Odds are 1 in 47.32 and there are 54,912 ways to get it. Then it's 2 Pair. Odds of this hand are 1 in 21.3 with 123,552 ways to get it. Then it's 1 Pair. Odds of this are 1 in 2.36 with 1,098,240 ways to get it.

TWINS

Should people 2 or more people have a straight flush the person with the highest card wins. This is the same if 2 or more have a flush, or a straight. if two people have the same two pair the person with the highest kicker wins. This is the same with one pair

Advantages Of Position

The player who bets first is said to be in a weaker position as  they reveal information about their hand (by the size of bet) but have no information on others hand so whoever bets last has information on everybody else's hand before he makes his decision to call or fold.

Pre Flop

Play Starts with the dealer shuffling and cutting the pack, then dealing to his right. Everybody is dealt two cards face down, then there is a round of betting there is already small blind (SB) and big blind (BB) in he pot this is called the ante to call your hand you have to put in at least the BB to get into the game or you can fold which will cost you nothing if you are not BB or SB or you can raise to any amount you wish. SB is Half of BB so if BB is 50 SB is 25 so if you are SB you only need to put in another 25 if nobody has raised before you if BB or SB fold pre flop they do not get money back. When all betting is done three community cards are dealt face up into the middle

Flop

The three community cards that are dealt on the flop are for everybody to use along with the two cards they were dealt pre flop. another round of betting takes place unlike before there is no ante and no player has to put money in. if a person makes a raise the person next to them on the right has the choice to call raise or simply fold which will cost them nothing. After that person has made their choice it's onto the next person clockwise for which has the same three choices. If there is no raise everybody just checks then another card is dealt to the community this is called the Turn card.

Turn

The Turn card is dealt to the community cards to make 4 cards on the table face up for all players left in to use. Then there is another round of betting the same as after the flop. after all is done the final card is dealt to the community face up this is called the River

River

The fifth and final card is dealt face up on the table for all to use then its the final round of betting same as after the flop and the turn.

The Showdown

After all betting is done there is a showdown where all players turn their cards and the best combination of community cards and two pocket cards wins. it is possible for the best hand to be the five community cards in which case the pot is split up into equal shares to the remaining players.

After this the button moves on and another round begins with two cards being dealt like before this goes on until one person is left with all the chips. This person is the winner.
